Wow! Are We Blessed.

We have really enjoyed General Conference. Everything from Women's Conference to the last session today has been so uplifting and inspiring. We are so blessed to be led by prophets and apostles. I'd have to say that October conference time is one of my favorite times of the year.

There were so many talks that dealt with encouragement and being obedient so we can be blessed in the days ahead. With all the craziness going on all over the world, it is so calming to have the the voice of the Lord guiding us through his servants.

We were really excited to hear the the five new temples that were announced. We were really grateful to hear about the temple in Rome, Italy. In one of the last missionary conferences that Matt attended while on his mission there, the visiting authority promised that one day there would be a temple in Italy. I remembered what Matt had said and got chills all over as soon as I heard the announcement. I called Matt and the first thing he said was "I heard!" He said he was glad he wasn't there in person to hear it cause he let out a loud "Yes" and clapped. He said it was a lot like being at a ballgame. It was nice to see him still caring about the people of Italy.

"Whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants it is the same." That sure has meaning doesn't it!!

Parable of the Keys

Last Sunday while at our condo Craig and I had a "discussion" about the keys he had lost. It was the same discussion we'd had a thousand times. "If you'd just put them where they belong we wouldn't have this problem" I said. After several minutes of him looking everywhere and then concluding he had left them in the lock and "someone" had stolen them-I joined the search. Retracing his every step I found the keys in the refrigerator inside the 12 pack of diet Dr. Pepper. (Obvious place.) I once again encouraged him to "just put them where they belong" to which he replied, "Yes. Mommy." Needless to say, I let him know I would no longer be joining in his daily search for keys.

Coming home from the temple on Tuesday Craig brought the keys to our Camry in and put them on the counter top. (We're suppose to leave them in the car.) Wednesday Stacy, Gavin, Lexi and I went for a walk. After coming home I jumped in the car to leave and you guessed it-no keys!!

After a quick look around I called Craig to ask about the keys. "They're in the car." "No they're not." "That's where they have to be." "No they're not. I need them and you'll have to find them when you get home from work." Neither one of us dared go much further than that in the conversation.

Craig came home and looked all over for the keys. No luck. He gingerly asked if I'd looked for them. I gave him the "are you kidding" look and that was that. He hadn't found the keys by the next morning and needless to say I was not happy. This was the second set of keys to the Camry he'd lost.

About mid morning Craig called to let me know he had ordered a remote for the car so we could get another key and remote set. "That's good, cause we need it." I still wasn't very happy!

I'd told Stacy about the key incident earlier in the day and as we talked again on the phone I let her know that I would be getting a new remote and key; after all that is the consequence. A short time later I received a call from Stacy. "Mom, this is one of the hardest phone calls I've had to make-but I have your keys in my diaper bag." Oops! Seems I'd forgotten that I had put the keys in the diaper bag when we went on our walk the previous day. Oops again!!

Moral Delima: Do I call Craig and apologize or just happen to find the keys somewhere in the house? After the call (and eating my words) my husband was very gracious and only once remarked that he had gone crazy looking for the keys and only once referenced a conversation with "I wouldn't talk!" He really was very forgiving!!

So the point of the parable-Be nice! It just might be your fault! Oh, and put the keys where they belong.

Craig's Parents

We are very concerned with Grandpa and Grandma Cooper. Grandpa has been in the hospital for about four days. Jackie has had to travel back and forth to Davis Regional during all hours of the night for emergency procedures. Grandpa will be getting out of the hospital today (22nd) but will be facing prostate surgery in the next few days. Although he doesn't have cancer, the surgery will be risky because he has to be off Cumidin during the surgery and the recovery. That is the medication that lessens the chance of bloodclots so it does increase that risk. He's been on the medication since his stints were put in several years ago. Jackie has been holding up very well and Joan has been there doing whatever she can. Anyway-everybody keep them in your prayers.
Love to all.

Starting a New Era

On May 30, 2008 Craig and I watched as the last of our nine children, Jordan, graduated from high school. We've been graduating kids since 1988. They've graduated from several different high schools, and some years poor Craig would have to go to two graduations cause he has to go to all of Orem High School's graduation because of his profession. So, here's the list of kids and their high schools: Chris-American Fork, Matt and Nate-Mountain View, Stacy-Evanston, David-Lone Peak, and Aaron, Rhys, Jillynn and Jordan-Timpanogos. A new era has been ushered in!!

Championship Day

Our family had a great time on May 24, 2008 as all the kids came to watch Timpanogos High School play for the state championship. We were really surprised because Chris, Sharon and family were in Nauvoo vacationing. Imagine how delighted we were to open the door Saturday morning to find them standing there. They had driven all through the night to be with us. Grandkids painted their faces and siblings even painted shirts with "#1" (Jord's number) and "Cooper". I'm sure we had the biggest cheering section with family (we do have the largest) friends, neighborhood and ward members supporting Jordan. The team went through the state tournament without losing a single game! It was an amazing day.

I'm just starting out and hope to show a little bit about our family and the things we do. If this goes well-this just might be my journaling!! Kathy
